FOOTBALL: Crawley Town - 'Long Live Setanta'

CRAWLEY Town's public profile could be hit, along with a loss of income if troubled TV broadcaster Setanta goes bust.

They are currently reported to be losing money and have mounting debts with a 30million bill to the Premier League due for payment.

They have also recently been asked to pay a reported 3million to the Scottish Premier League for broadcasting rights.

Last season Crawley earned 10,000 for two matches broadcast by them, a home game against Ebbsfleet Utd and an away game at Salisbury.

Additional coverage of home games after the first one can bring in 13,000 per game, which can be useful funds for any club.

Crawley assistant manager Paul Raynor would like Setanta to keep going because they do wonders in raising the profile of the game at Conference level.

He said: "Setanta have always been very good to us and the stories about their possible demise are only speculation.

"Their coverage of Conference games is excellent and it's valuable publicity.

"They are very polite when they work with us and we enjoy the exposure of being on live TV.

"We were a bit disappointed we weren't on more often last season and it is up to them who they are going to choose to put on."
