A team from a Crawley beauty salon is offering free nail art to anyone taking part in the towns’ Race for Life next weekend.

On Sunday June 26, hundreds of daughters, mum and grandmas area expected to walk, jog or run the paths of Tilgate Park in the annual fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research UK.

As the Pink Army’s official nail artist Glam Crawley salon owner Jasmine McPherson, 22, and her colleagues will be there from 6am to paint all entrants’ nails pink for free.

Fighting cancer means a lot to Jasmine because she lost her grandmother Sonia Upham in 2002 to breast cancer. Every year Jasmine and Glam raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness in October.

She said: “We’ve not done the Race for Life or a run together before.

“We just approached Race for Life about our ideas and they thought it was great. They have sent us all the logos and promotional bits and pieces.

“We thought it would be a nice way to help out and it’s in aid of the charity which is quite close to our heart.

“Anyone who’s running the race will get it for free and anyone else can have them done for a donation.

“We’ll be there from 6am and will be painting all until everyone starts dispersing, which will probably be early afternoon.

“We’ll be able to do it for the supporters while the runners and running. It’s going to be a fantastic way to get people into the spirit of things.”

Jasmine has built up her business from scratch starting as a home salon. In 2015 she won Nail Technician of the Year and the Hair and Beauty Awards run by the Observer’s sister title etc magazine.

Since then her business has relocated to commercial premises in Manor Royal and she has been able to employ three more members of staff.

Some of the Glam team will also be joining the participants of the 5km event at the park along with Jasmine’s dog Pablo, who will be dress in a pink tutu and paws.

Booking is not needed for nail art on the day. However to make an appointment with Jasmine or one of her team in advance of the Race for Life event call 01293 279932 or 07540 349825. Participants will be required to bring race entry confirmation to receive the offer.
