New play areas for toddlers and older children in Knepp Close, Pound Hill will open with fun activities on Saturday (February 14).

The play areas will be opened with a morning of fun including games and face painting from 10am-2pm.

The new play areas, which cost £65,000, include equipment ranging from swings for young and older children, slides, a zip wire, spinning dishes, a high level merry-go-round, a picnic bench, puzzles, games and an element of natural play.

Consultation with local schools and residents was used as a wish list and helped to design the play areas. Construction of the scheme began in November.

Councillor Chris Mullins, Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: “The new play areas look fantastic and I’m sure will entertain children of all ages for many years.

“I hope as many children and families as possible can make it on February 14 to try out the new play equipment.”
