A plane was grounded at Gatwick Airport after it sustained minor damage to its tail when it was struck by lightning.

The Aurigny Air Services flight GR605 landed normally after it was caught in a thunderstorm at about 11.15am yesterday (August 13).

A spokesman for the airline said it was chartering a replacement aircraft to get passenger to and from Gatwick on Thursday evening.

Passengers travelling to the Channel Islands said they were delayed for hours on Twitter.
