Student wins award for netball commitment
A SCHOOLGIRL has been presented with an award for her commitment to the school netball team.
Oakwood student Amy Waters received a trophy and certificate from Surrey Children’s Services.
The Year 9 pupil has been supporting the school club for the last three years and has represented the school in matches and tournaments.
Assistant headteacher Heather Roberts nominated her for the award.
She said: “Amy has shown due diligence not only to netball but all aspects of school life and her efforts were duly rewarded at the Surrey County Council Oscarz Award event in November 2011.”
Headteacher Sue Child also commented on how proud she was of Amy’s achievement.
A Surrey County Council spokesman said: “There were over 400 nominations for young people’s achievements. These included awards for good GCSE results, getting into university, good school attendance, sports, personal development and much more.
“We were very impressed with all those who took part in the Oscarz and are very pleased that their hard work is recognised at this event. We send our heartiest congratulations to Amy.”
