Heavy gusting winds of up to 80mph are expected in West Sussex tonight (Friday February 14).
The paper’s resident weatherman Ian Michaelwaite is predicting the weather to be very rough throughout the night.
He said: “After a very blustery and wet day, later this afternoon and into the evening the wind will quickly gain strength and by midnight should be peaking with gusts of up to 80mph on exposed coasts and hills, and widely gusts of 60-70mph inland are expected.
“This will cause disruption to both power and travel networks overnight, and with high tide coinciding with the strongest winds there is a risk of large wind driven waves overtopping sea defences. Winds will ease slowly through tomorrow.”
