Lions give charities furniture after £5,000 gift

Crawley Lions Club has given new furniture to a homeless shelter and Age UK centre. Gary Davies, a member of the club, said it received 20 pieces of furniture worth more than £5,000 from Martell’s Furniture Store in East Grinstead on Monday (January 5). Twelve recliner chairs and two sofas were delivered to Age UK’s Tilgate centre the day of the donation. Two bed settees went to the Open House shelter in Three Bridges. One was used to help set up a young homeless person’s new home in Crawley. Gary said he was “overwhelmed” by the donation.

He thanked the family who run the business for their kindness to the less fortunate and added: “They do know very well that by giving it to us we will sort out those people in need and do all we possibly can to help them.”
