A lane of the A23 was closed due to an accident around Handcross this morning (Sunday August 24) involving four cars.

The lane was shut and there was queuing traffic on A23 southbound between the B2114 junction in Handcross and Bolney Cross in Bolney.

The incident happened in the roadworks area, resulting in congestion to Pease Pottage.

The whole road was blocked for about 20 minutes but lane one (of two) was reopened at around 12.15pm.

The other lane stayed shut for emergency services.
