A23 Update: Road to reopen ‘in the next hour’

Police expect the A23 at Handcross to reopen in the next hour, a spokeswoman said at 5.25pm today (Wednesday October 4).

The A23 near Handcross is closed southbound after a lorry left the carriageway.

The driver of the lorry has suffered serious injuries.

Both carriageways were closed for a short time to allow the air ambulance to land.

The northbound carriageway has reopened.
