Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after a black BMW convertible was stolen from a property in Horley.
The theft occurred between 7.50pm on Friday September 6 and 1am on Saturday September 7 after the offenders broke into the property on Lumley Road and stole the keys to the car.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Simon Evans, said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the offence or in the days prior to it occurring to contact officers with information as it may prove vital to the investigation.
“It is believed the property was targeted for the vehicle and that the offenders had planned the burglary in some detail, following initial inquiries it is thought the offenders used a set of other number plates to leave the scene.
“I would ask anyone who thinks they may have seen the stolen vehicle on the night of the offence or who has since seen it parked up somewhere to share this information with us.”
Officers would also like to remind vehicle owners not to leave their keys in visible and obvious places to prevent thieves from targeting properties to steal cars and more information about keeping your property safe can be found by visiting www.surrey.police.uk
