Armed robbery at Crawley pub

The manager of a Crawley pub was robbed at gunpoint by a masked man last night (Sunday March 10).

Police said the raider walked into the Imperial Public House, Broadfield Barton, at around 11.30pm armed with what appeared to be a gun when the manager opened the door to let a member of staff out.

Both women were ordered to empty the safe before the robber made off on foot with several thousand pounds in cash.

Police, including firearms officers, searched for the man but he was not found.

He was described as a tanned/mixed race man, 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in, of a stocky fat build, wearing a lime green face covering and a green possibly parka style jacket.

Detective Constable Julie Chambers from West Sussex CID said: “Officers are continuing with local enquiries and viewing CCTV.

“The victims were fortunately not injured but both are nonetheless very shaken by the whole experience. There were no customers in the pub at the time of the robbery.”

Any information to police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
