A 14-year-old girl started her writing career early as her own charitable book has been published.
Ella Barton, from Cuckmere Crescent, Gossops Green, is the author of a book of cat tales called ‘The Storybook Collection’ published by the charity, Cats Protection.
The Hazelwick School pupil started writing stories for the charity’s quarterly magazine, “Furr-nancial Times” two years ago and five of them have been chosen to go into the book.
She explained: “At first I just made puzzles and stuff for them and then I decided to start writing stories about cats as well and they really liked them.
“Then it was my dad who said ‘why don’t we make them into a book to sell’.
“When I saw the book for the first time it was really exciting,” Ella said. “I really love it.”
The book includes illustrations by her father, Chris.
She added: “I got a lot of inspiration from my family and from our cat Oggie.”
The book can be ordered by post by sending a cheque for £2.60 to Cats Protection Horsham and District Branch to Ella’s Storybook, Cats Protection, PO Box 466, Horsham, RH12 4XN.
