BREAKING NEWS: Crawley Hospital evacuated after fire
PATIENTS have been evacuated at Crawley Hospital after reports of a fire.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue said it received a call at 1.36pm today (Tuesday August 28) that there was a fire in the sixth floor store room.
Ten fire engines from across Sussex are at the scene on West Green Drive after reports of smoke issuing from the sixth floor window.
The whole building has been evacuated apart from the operating theatre on the third floor.
A member of the public at the scene said: “I have been told there is a fire on the Concorde Ward. I am with my dad who is a patient at the hospital in my car – but there are patients everywhere and we can’t get out the car park to go to another hospital.”
