Crawley’s Discovery New School will close in April.
A letter was sent to chairman of governors Chris Cook today (Friday December 13) from Lord Nash, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools.
Lord Nash wrote to the school in November, expressing concerns about the standard of education at the school and calling for an Further Action Statement to be presented, laying out the school’s plans for the future.
In today’s letter, Lord Nash said: “Having now considered this statement carefully, the Secretary of State is not satisfied that the action the Academy Trust proposes to take is sufficient in all the circumstances.”
The letter added: “In order to ensure an orderly closure of the school, the Secretary of State requires the school to close on 4 April 2014.”
The Discovery School has yet to comment.
