British Airways staff to hold fundraiser for children’s cancer charity
CUSTOMER service staff at British Airways have organised a “night of music and fun” to raise money for a children’s cancer charity.
The event, at the Wingspan Club, Whitworth Road, on Friday (September 14) will include a raffle to win three One Direction tickets for their UK tour, plus a CD signed by the band.
Staff arranged the event as a way of offering support to their colleague, Julie Chrzanowska, whose 14-year-old son Matthew is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia at Southampton General Hospital.
The evening, in aid of CLIC Sargent, will run from 7-11pm.
On October 28, the team plans to take part in The Great South Run, in Portsmouth, for the same cause.
Lucy Groenewoud, who organised the event with colleague Claire Pulman, said: “Julie has the biggest personality and also the biggest heart. She always goes out of her way to help everyone else and we wanted to return the care and help she has shown all of us over the years, by supporting her and Matthew at this difficult time.”
