Just hours after a new leader of Crawley Conservative Group was announced Cllr Claire Denman, acting leader of the council, has relinquished her role as Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development.
Cllr Bob Lanzer (Con, Pound Hill South and Worth), who stood down as leader of the council last month, has taken over this portfolio with immediate effect.
Cllr Denman remains as a ward councillor for Pound Hill South and Worth.
A new leader of the council will be elected at the Special Full Council meeting on September 26.
Cllr Denman said: “Combining both roles has been extremely difficult so I’ve decided to stand down from my role as Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development.
“Bob has both the knowledge and the skills to do a great job; he understands what the role entails and the important challenges we face. I’m certain he will be an excellent Cabinet member.”
