Oriel High School student Callie Rae Mead, 16, has made it through to the area finals of the Open Mic UK contest.

Callie Rae performed in front of an audience and judging panel on October 28 at The Hove Centre and will take to the stage again on December 9 at Portsmouth Guild Hall.

If she wows the judges in the area final, she will perform in the National Grand Final at The O2 in London on January 19 2013.

The winner will receive £5,000 cash and the opportunity to tour across the UK.
