Can you be the top number cruncher?

YOUNG political enthusiasts are being encouraged to enter a competition that will give them a chance to be Chancellor.

Entrants will get the opportunity to make decisions on taxation and spending policies, with last year’s scheme culminating in the publication of the first ever ‘youth budget’.

Run by the Citizenship Foundation, Chance to be Chancellor 2012 is open to ages 14 to 18 with prizes and visits to the Treasury available.

Crawley MP Henry Smith, who is supporting the competition, said: “This is an excellent chance for young people in Crawley who are interested in politics to learn about, and express their opinion on the important economic decisions of the country. I hope that this year that Crawley youngsters and schools will represent our town and take advantage of this excellent opportunity.”
