The mother of an autistic five-year-old boy raised almost £1,000 at a fundraising event to raise awareness of her plans to open the first pre-school in Crawley for toddlers with the condition.

Jo-Ann Cruz is working with Crawley Borough Council and West Sussex County Council and hopes to open the school later this year. Gym members at Virgin Active, on the Leisure Park, gave generously on Saturday (April 26). Jo-Ann said: “There’s a lot of evidence that early intervention [into autism] makes a difference later in life.”A4A_0355
