Charity concert raises £200 for hospice
TWO schoolgirls who organised a charity concert presented a cheque for £200 to St Catherines Hospice.
Hazelwick pupils, Chloe Rolph and Holly Simpson, organised the event.
Dave Palmer, deputy headteacher at the secondary school, said: “They carried out auditions from groups across the whole school before narrowing it down to around seven acts.”
The concert was organised during a lunch time and students donated money to watch.
Chloe said: “We chose it because one of the school science teachers, Mrs Smith, passed away and she had good help there.
“It’s a charity that is close to the school and my family as well. A friend of my family also passed away there.
“We have been to the hospice and they work so hard to make everyone happy and peaceful.”
Charity fundraiser Victoria Lawrence accepted the cheque on behalf of the hospice.
She said: “It’s great when young people get involved with St Catherines Hospice.
“We are delighted that Hazelwick School is so involved with not just raising money for the hospice but volunteering as well.”
