Composer starts community choir

A composer whose music has been heard from Delhi to New York has launched a community choir in Crawley.

Juliet Russell is calling for adults who would like to sing globally influenced music to join her at St John’s Church Hall.

Julie has composed music for everything from brass bands to sitar and she specialises in writing for the voice.

She has conducted more than 1,500 people, singing together at one time and is responsible for Vocal Explosion choirs in Brighton,Hastings and Rye.

She said: “You don’t have to have previous experience or be able to read music - just as long as you do have a sense of commitment and fun we will help with the rest.

“We welcome all adult participants, bringing experienced and new singers together from 16 to 80 years young, so just turn up for a taster session and see if you enjoy it.”

The sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings at the hall, in Church Walk, between 6-7.30pm, starting on November 6, and cost £5. For details or to book ahead contact Juliet a www.vocalexplosion.co.uk
