Crawley Borough Council is working on seven different initiatives to tackle the problem of people parking their cars on grass verges in the town.
The issue, which regularly ranks as one of residents’ top concerns, has been the subject of a special project to crack down on problem parking and related damage to grass verges since February 2012.
The majority of initiatives involve working in partnership with other organisations, in particular West Sussex County Council.
The seven initiatives are:
Working with schools
Working with residents’ groups
Residential environmental improvements
Protection of verges
A new project specific to Tilgate
Providing support to create new enforcement powers.
