Crawley bookies robbed

COPS are hunting two men after a brazen robbery at a town betting shop.

Corals Bookmakers in Furnace Green was targetted by thieves before they made off in the direction of the Charcoal Burner Pub.

Crawley detectives are investigating the robbery which happened just before 9.30pm on Tuesday February 10.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "Two white males entered the betting shop, approached staff and demanded the cash from the till.

"A sum of money was stolen and put in a black sports bag, before the two men left Corals, on foot, in the direction of the Charcoal Burner public house.

"Nobody was harmed and no weapon was seen. A forensic examination has been carried out. Police searched the area at the time. No arrests have been made.

Officers described the first suspect as 'white, male, 6'3" tall, of a slim build' he wore green/beige rubber gardening gloves, and white trainers and spoke with a local accent.

The second suspect was described as 'white, male, 6'0" tall, of a stockier build. He also wore gloves and carried a black nylon sports bag'.

Both offenders were dressed in black or dark clothing.

DC Amanda Leigh said: "Police would like trace two men who left the shop just prior to the robbery, it is likely they will have vital information that would be of help to the investigation. People smoking outside the pub opposite may have also seen something relevant."
