A childcare project has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.

Shalom Childcare Project , based at the Ifield Community Centre, in Ifield Drive, has been told it meets the compulsory and voluntary requirements for the childcare register in an Ofsted report published on May 1.

The report stated: “Staff use effective systems to get to know children quickly and use children’s interests and ideas to shape the planning of activities.

“Successful partnerships with parents, and other settings children attend, help support children’s individual needs well, including children learning English as an additional language.”

The report also noted that children were very confident and motivated to play and learn and developed close bonds with staff who enjoyed being involved in their play.

It added: “Effective leadership and management help to safeguard children and bring about continuous improvements.“

The report stated that the project was not graded as ‘outstanding’ because some staff did not always give children clear explanations for why they should follow safety rules.
