Firefighters will begin eight days of industrial action at the weekend.
From Saturday (August 16), members of the Fire Brigades Union, including firefighters in Crawley, will be on strike as part of a long-running dispute over pensions.
A spokesman said: “We will still be responding to 999 calls but we will have fewer resources available.
“Sometimes just taking a little extra care when you’re cooking, turning electrical appliances off when you aren’t using them and making sure cigarettes are extinguished properly can make the difference between needing to call 999 or not.
