Plans for the former home of the Gurjar Hindu Union in Crawley to be redeveloped for housing are recommended for approval.
Crawley Borough Council’s development control committee is due to discuss the plans for 10 flats in Spencer Road, West Green, on Monday (March 10).
The Union is requesting permission to demolish a warehouse, previsouly used by members as a place of worship, and build a block of five one-bedroom and five-two bedroom flats.
The plans also include 10 parking spaces. However, this has caused concern from nearby residents.
The council has received three letters and 15 petition slips against the plans.
They have concerns the flats would result in parking problems, would cause an increase in traffic and the development would result in a loss of privacy for adjoining properties.
Council officers say, although granting permission would result an a potential employment site being lost, the warehouse has not been used for employment for more than a decade.
They have recommended the committee to approved the bid.
