Crawley Borough Council’s new Cabinet members will be the same team which acted as shadow Cabinet last year.
Leader Cllr Peter Lamb (Lab, Northgate) said his team intended to “hit the ground running” during its first year in charge of the council.
There was no place on the Cabinet for any of Labour’s new councillors.
Explaining his reasons for opting for experience over new blood, Cllr Lamb said: “As leader I will have an unusually strong pool of candidates available for appointment to the Cabinet, many of which have been mayors or held a portfolio when Labour was last in administration.
“Both individually and as a team, the Shadow Cabinet has worked hard to prepare for control and, after a year of stagnation at the town hall, we see it as vital to get things moving again as soon as possible.
“It is for that reason that I intend to appoint last year’s shadow Cabinet as the Cabinet for the coming year and ensure we hit the ground running.”
The 2014/15 Cabinet will be: Peter Lamb, leader
Stephen Joyce, deputy leader and housing
Chris Oxlade, community engagement
David Shreeves, customer and corporate services
Colin Lloyd, environment
Chris Mullins, leisure and culture
Peter Smith, planning and economic development.
