The manager of a hairdresser said her staff had been left “scared” after £1,400 worth of salon equipment was stolen.

Six pairs of straighteners and three hair dryers were stolen from the front window display in Jimmy Chop Chop, The Boulevard, between 1am and 9am on Sunday morning (April 13).

Toni Dixon, the salon’s manager, said: “Members of staff have said it makes you feel like anyone walking past, it could have been them.

“For the girls, they have found it scary because it could be someone we deal with.

“Since Jim’s had the salon we’ve never had anything like this happen before. It’s a bit of a sign of the times. It’s really disappointing.”

Toni said the salon was not open on Sunday and it was very lucky the salon’s builder went there to do some work at 9am because he found the door lock broken.

She said it would have been obvious to any passer-by that the door was insecure so anyone could have entered that day.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting ref 0394 13/04.
