Plans for an extension to a primary school and a college were submitted to Crawley Borough Council.
The borough council registered the planning application on May 1.
The proposals included a single storey extension to Manor Green Primary School and building a teaching building at Manor Green College at the site in Lady Margaret Road, Ifield.
The building would have a covered walkway and emergency vehicle access.
The plans included additional parking for 12 cars within the school and college’s shared car park.
The borough council will hold a public consultation on the application until May 30.
Gatwick Airport Limited stated the application could conflict with its aerodrome safeguarding criteria in a letter to the council on May 6.
It stated it would ‘not wish’ to see trees that would attract birds being part of the plans because of the increased hazard the birds would put on planes flying in the area.
The council stated on its website it aimed to come to a decision on the application on June 26.
