Gossops Green Community Primary School, in Crawley, has beaten thousands of children into the top 10 of West Sussex and UK National Maths Contests.

Rhoslyn Singh, nine, came third out of 3,481 pupils in the West Sussex contest and sixth in the national one entered by just over 6,000 pupils.

Nearly 3,500 pupils from across the county entered the count competition, in which she answered 998 out 1,000 questions correctly and one she only got one question wrong in the national contest.

Finding herself among the Top Ten in the county and national maths competitions, Rhoslyn says that she was very ‘happy and excited’ to be on the Top Ten in these contests and is now more determined to do better.

She said: “My target is to get 1,000 and improve my speed in future contests.”
