Gatwick business people drove non-stop from Crawley to Italy and raised more than £9,000 for local charities including St Catherine’s Hospice.

Seven cars with 32 people in fancy dress left the Arora Hotel, Southgate Avenue, for Milan at 4am on May 9. The optimum time to complete the course was set at just under 13 hours. Teams got bonus time for taking a group photo with Italian police and purchasing items such as French tarts. The Mayor of Crawley, Cllr Bob Burgess, wished the teams well on their journey.

One took more than 19 hours to finish.
