Daredevils to abseil down hotel for charity
Daredevils will be abseiling 110ft down the Sofitel Hotel at Gatwick Airport on Sunday (March 3) in a bid to raise £8,000 for charity.
The event will raise funds for Home-Start CHAMS (Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex) which helps support parents finding it difficult to cope with bringing up a young family.
Around 45 people will make the journey down the side of the hotel from 9am-3pm, including staff and volunteers from the charity.
Aimee Wiggins, fundraising manager for Home-Start CHAMS, who is also taking part in the abseil, said: “It is very exciting and it should be a really fun way for us to raise money.
“I have done one previously and it went really well, and we decided to do it again. It is something people really want to get on board with and something that is on people’s bucket lists. There are a lot of us doing it as well.
“I think it possibly feels more horrible, because I know what to expect! I am very nervous and I don’t mind admitting it. But it is for a good cause.”
There are not many spaces left, but if you want to abseil on the day and can register and raise sponsorship by Thursday (Febuary 28) or latest Friday (March 1) call 01293 416327.
