Determined Clare to scale Kilimanjaro

A BROADFIELD woman is preparing to scale Mount Kilimanjaro to help raise funds for military heroes.

Clare Heath, 33, will climb 6,000 metres up the mountain in Tanzania in October as part of her goal to raise £3,800 for Help for Heroes.

Help for Heroes (H4H) is an independent charity which helps members of the Armed Forces who have been injured in the course of serving their country.

The feat will take Clare five days to complete and she says she is ready to face the challenge.

Clare said: “Climbing Africa’s highest peak is an incredible challenge.

“It will take five days of climbing to get to the top, but I’m determined to make it.”

To help inspire people to back her charity drive, the HR Business Partner has lined up a series of events over the next few months in Crawley.

She will be holding a Best of British themed party at Crawley Rugby Club in Ifield on Saturday September 8.

Clare said: “Everyone is invited to attend and you can wear anything red, white or blue to help join in on the fun.”

Tickets for the evening are £10 each which include entrance to the party, a DJ and disco and two raffle tickets.

Local businesses JK One, JetAir, FitDen, Jimmy Chop Chop and Park Cameras have donated prizes including vouchers, a spray tan, a four-week fitness course, stay at a luxury hotel and a camera to the raffle.

Clare said people can purchase additional raffle tickets for £1 on the night.
