Dozens evacuated when fire broke out in West Green shop

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in a ground floor convenience store in West Green, Crawley, this morning (Thursday 16 February).

Twenty four people were evacuated from flats above the parade in Ewhurst Road for precautionary measures.

Five fire crews attended the scene at around 4am.

Firefighters believe the fire was started deliberately and is under investigation by Sussex Police.

Very Glad that no was hurt, If this was Arson then I hope whoever is responsible is caught quickly. This shop is a great community asset and is essential for many elderly people who can't make it into town. I hope it is back and open for business soon.
