Drivers seriously injured in crash near Gatwick

Two drivers were seriously injured in an accident near Gatwick Airport.

Emergency services were called to the B2036 Balcombe Road at the junction with Fernhill Lane, just south of Horley, at 6.30pm yesterday (Monday June 23).

A 45-year old Horley woman, who was driving a Citroen Picasso, was taken to St George’s Hospital, South London, by road ambulance, with head and body injuries.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said she is currently in a critical condition.

A 50-year old Crawley Down woman, who was driving a Landrover Freelander, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton to be treated for facial and back injuries.

Police are calling for witnesses to the accident to contact them via 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Shilton.
