Midwives at East Surrey Hospital have announced a new arrival – a virtual video tour of the hospital’s great maternity facilities.
The video – which can be found here – allows expectant mums to see what the unit looks like and what options and facilities are available for them when they give birth, in the hospital or at home.
It opens the doors to the delivery suite, the recently refurbished birthing suite, the Maternity theatre and the Neonatal Unit at the hospital which is run by Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Michelle Cudjoe, head of midwifery/divisional chief nurse, midwifery, said: “Having a baby is a very special and exciting time for people and I hope this video helps to answer some of the many questions families might have.
“It offers guidance and reassurance which is really important for first-time mums and those who haven’t visited the Maternity Unit before.
“We will be more than happy to accommodate individual requests if people would still like to physically see the unit. “
Last year, nearly 4,500 babies were born at the trust which provides maternity services to women across Surrey and Sussex.
