EastEnders heart-throb to turn on Crawley festive lights

SOAP fans are in for a treat as a little bird has told the Observer that EastEnders heart-throb Jack Branning will be turning on the Christmas lights at County Mall.

Jack – better known as actor Scott Maslen – is expected to be at the Mall today (November 17) for the big turn-on at 7pm.

Festive entertainment with a Peter Pan theme will start at 5pm, with Lost Boy jugglers, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, face painters and a special visit from Father Christmas himself who will be meeting and greeting all the good little boys and girls of Sussex.

From 6pm DJ Chris Oxlade will be on the wheels of steel playing all those Christmas classics as well as offering prizes, store discounts and giveaways to get people you in the party mood.

At 6.40pm, Chris will fulfill the dream of a lifetime when he interviews Father Christmas before the arrival of the evening’s special guest who will switch on the Charity Tree and officially launch Christmas!

Money raised this year will go to The Springboard Project, Age UK and The Army Benevolent Fund.

Nicola Stevens, marketing manager at County Mall, said: “We cannot confirm or deny rumours circulating on the identity of the celebrity switching on the lights of the County Mall Christmas Tree, but the whole event this year is bigger and better than ever before with more chances to win prizes and to get discounts in stores throughout County Mall.”
