Pupils from eight Crawley schools were among 800 children who took part in the Sussex School Games.

Sponsored by Sainsbury’s, the event at K2 on Thursday (July 10) was billed as a mini-Olympics and Paralympics.

Competitors included pupils from Three Bridges Primary, Desmond Anderson Primary, Maidenbower Primary, St Margaret’s CofE Primary, Our Lady Queen of Heaven Primary, Oriel High, Holy Trinity and Hazelwick.

They were joined by Lesley Owusu – 400m champion at the 2014 World Masters and silver medallist in the 4 x 400m relay at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. The children were aged seven to 14 and came from 76 schools across Sussex. Some 200 volunteers helped the day pass smoothly.
