Father's day fun for dads and offspring

Dads visiting the Weald and Downland Museum had a hair-raising experience when they took to the slopes on mountain boards for Father's Day.

The free sessions were held by the Haredown Mountain Boarding Centre, based in East Dean, and gave dads the chance to try their hand at the sport.

As well as trying to keep their balance on the boards, dads could also take part in a variety of less gravity-dependent activities including driving a vintage tractor, field target air rifles and the chance to try wood sculpting.

The series of special events also included various competitions including welly-boot throwing and a coconut shy, while younger visitors could attend a Father's Day activity workshop and play Tudor and Victorian games.
