Fire in roof cavity at Broadfield flats

Firecrews were called to a block of flats in Broadfield yesterday afternoon (Wednesday January 16) after a fire broke out in a cavity in the roof.

The incident happened at around 2.10pm at Copeland House on Rathlin Road.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said workmen had been carrying out repairs on the roof.

The spokesman said: “We had to find which part of the cavity the fire was in. There was no damage to the flats themselves.

“Three fire engines from Crawley attended the scene.”
