FIREFIGHTERS were called after an arson attack at a disused school site.

Crews were called to the North East Professional Centre, formerly Robert May School, in Furnace Green, at 3.45pm on Monday (September 3).

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus as they entered the one-storey building and the fire was extinguished using one hose reel. The team was on site for 45 minutes.

This was the second time in three months that fire crews had been called to the site. A major fire in June left much of the building badly damaged.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the fire should contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial number 1118 of 03/09.
