Firefighters deal with two arsons
Police and firefighters were called to two arsons in Bewbush on Wednesday (December 5).
The first fire, in a bin in Burbeach Close, was started at around 1.30am while the second, at around 2.20am destroyed a car and garage in Monarch Close. Fire crews used a hose reel to extinguish the first fire and were at the scene for 15 minutes.
They were called to the second fire half an hour later and were on site for 40 minutes, also extinguishing a third fire which had broken out at the rear of the garage block.
Foam and dry powder were used to extinguish the main fire but neither the garage nor the car inside could be saved.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “It appeared a pile of rubbish was set on fire which has then spread to the garage.
“Due to the proximity and timings, Sussex Police cannot rule out that the fires are linked.
“Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 0075.
