Work is ongoing on an 18-month improvement project at Ifield Mill Pond.
The £7.5million project was launched after a change in the regulations governing reservoirs and flood and water management left the council legally obliged to carry out repairs on the dam.
The work will also include the de-silting of both the northern and southern ponds, new footpaths and boardwalks and an extra car park off Gossops Drive for 10 vehicles.
With work on the new footpaths being carried out over the next four weeks, a council spokesman said the footpath linking Trent Close to Waterfield Gardens would be closed on weekdays from 7am-6pm.
He added: “Currently it is expected that the footpath will remain closed on this basis until December when work in the south pond is finished.”
