Fortnight of events to celebrate the power of words

WORDfest Crawley, run by arts enthusiasts, Crawley Library staff and the Crawley Arts Development Team, will take place from March 16 to 28.

Events will include novel and poetry readings, stand up comedy, quizzes, book swaps, film screenings and musical performances.

Jo Harrison, co-director and artist, said events have been crafted to reflect what was popular last year.

She said: “This year we have a whole day dedicated to children and young people on Saturday March 23 with authors coming to speak and run workshops, creative activities and book themed facepainting.

“I find it sad that so much creative and intellectual energy goes into advertising when all it seems to do is make people feel dissatisfied, so I pour most of my energy into projects of a community, arts and social nature.”

Most events will take place in Crawley Library or The Hawth. All tickets must be booked in advance. To find out about and book events visit www.wordfestcrawley.org
