West Sussex County Council is holding a drop-in session at Broadgield Library next Monday (February 17) fpor people to find out more about fostering.
Between 10am and 4pm people will be able to speak to members of the council’s fostering team and find out more about what being a foster carer involves.
One woman and her husband have been foster carers in West Sussex for around 18 months, predominately looking after teenagers in that time.
She said: “It’s probably the best job I’ve ever had.It sounds cheesy, but I feel so fulfilled. It isn’t easy, but I have felt very supported throughout the process and I’ve received a lot of training.
“If you try then I think you will amaze yourself at how much of a difference it makes. To see them grow and develop is wonderful. It’s incredibly rewarding.”
People from all backgrounds can apply to foster, regardless of their culture or ethnicity, marital status or sexuality.
