Businesses, schools, healthcare professionals and other local groups are invited to a free event to find out how they can help to help make Crawley dementia friendly.
Crawley Dementia Alliance is hosting a free stakeholder event at K2 Crawley on Wednesday November 27 to raise awareness of dementia and explain the resources and support available to help local organisations be part of a dementia friendly Crawley.
Dementia affects the lives of many people and Crawley Dementia Alliance works to support and improve the quality of life for people living with dementia, their families and those that care for them.
The day begins at 7.45am with a business breakfast and a presentation. There will then be a variety of guest speakers and workshop from 9am to 1pm followed by lunch.
Businesses can find out more information about how to get involved and support the aims of Crawley Dementia Alliance, raise awareness of dementia within their business and support employees of colleagues with dementia.
Schools are encouraged to come along to find out about the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Resource Suite for schools and get help on raising awareness of dementia among pupils and staff.
Healthcare professionals and local organisations are invited to find out how joining the Alliance could benefit them and how their organisation can help people living with the condition.
Cllr Nigel Boxall, Crawley Borough Council’s cabinet member for community engagement, said: “The Crawley Dementia Alliance works together to improve the lives of those affected by dementia – whether they are living with the disease themselves or care for someone who does.
“It’s important for local organisations to get involved and play their part in making the town dementia friendly and this event is an excellent opportunity to find out how.”
The Crawley Dementia Alliance is formed of NHS Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group, Crawley Wellbeing, St Catherine’s Hospice, Crawley Community & Voluntary Service, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Crawley Borough Council, Age UK West Sussex, Alzheimer’s Society and Carers Support West Sussex.
