Children at Busy Bees nursery in Sutherland House, Russell Way, celebrated the international ‘Talk like a Pirate Day’ by dressing up in eye patches, pirate hats and toy parrots.
At the fun annual event they also sang and learned a few famous pirate sayings, made telescopes, mini pirate ships, pirate masks and treasure maps as well as hunting for treasure in the garden. Nursery manager Zara Burford said: “Talk like a Pirate Day is always great fun for the children. They loved the transformation of the nursery – especially the under twos who were treated to their very own Treasure Island which was specially created to develop their sensory skills through sand and water play. The older children loved singing along to all the hearty pirate songs and even walking the plank with their friends.”
