St Wilfrid’s school has seen its GCSE results improve yet again today (Thursday, August 21).

In 2013, St Wilfrid’s was one of the highest performing schools in West Sussex in terms of student progress and its students have continued to do ‘exceptionally well’.

In total, 64 per cent of students achieved at least five A*-C grades including English and maths.

Happy

Head teacher Michael Ferry said: “I am delighted that the students’ hard work has paid off and that we have improved on last year’s results.

“There will be a lot of happy students this morning, many of whom will be returning to our sixth form to continue their education.

“The staff at St Wilfrid’s have, once again, done an excellent job and I’m sure the students are fully appreciative of their support.”

Alex Hill, 16, spoke of her relief after she picked up her seven A*s, four As and one B.

Alex, of Parnell Close, Maidenbower, who wants to be a singer, said: “It was just eagerness to get the results.

“I read down and my face lit up, it was like a whole weight was lifted off my shoulders.

“I’m happy that my hard work has paid off.”
