GCSES: Hazelwick results

STUDENTS at Hazelwick School celebrated their most successful GCSE year ever with 79 per cent of students achieving five or more A*-C grades.

An outstanding 39 students at the Three Bridges School achieved six or more A/A* grades with ten of these students scoring four or more A* grades.

Nick Hopkins, assistant headteacher at the school, said: "This was a hugely motivated and competitive year group whose ambitious approach and positive work ethic were excellent throughout their time at the school.

"For the vast majority these excellent results represent a fitting reward for the commitment and hard work of pupils and teachers alike.

"When added to the schools outstanding performance at A level, as reported last week, these results maintain Hazelwick's position as one of the top local authority schools in West Sussex."

Top student Gemma Claire achieved ten A* grades and one grade A and Kevin Moulton got into the top five performers with his eight A* two As and one B.

Thrilled Kevin said: "I can't believe it. I'm really pleased and happy. I'm going to go on to Sixth Form and study three sciences. Geology, Chemistry and probably Physics.

"I was really nervous this morning; I'm not very good at predicting how I have done with exams. I even queued up in the wrong queue this morning which wasn't a great move to start with.

"But I'm really relieved, I worked really hard and it's paid off, I'm very happy."
