Hazelwick Flyover meeting

Members of the public will get an opportunity to question the Hazelwick Flyover project team on Wednesday (February 27).

The flyover, which consists of two bridges that straddle the Hazelwick roundabout, is currently shut to traffic so essential repairs can be made.

Residents and local businesses are welcome to drop by, meet the project team and ask any questions about the scheme.

The meeting will take place at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Tinsley Lane, Crawley, from 10am to 12pm.

Pieter Montyn, West Sussex County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Everyone is invited along to the Ramada Hotel to meet our experts and raise any issues they have.

“The project has progressed well so far, and once finished will extend the lifespan of the bridge for another 25 years.”

Since work began on February 11, specialist apparatus has been put in place underneath the flyover. This will be used to lift both bridges so the repairs can be done.

Safety sheeting and a traffic management scheme has also been put in place around the site to ensure the safety of the workforce and the public travelling past.

The bridge is expected to re-open to traffic in June.
